Iaido & Batto

Iaido is the name given to the drawing and cutting practice of the Japanese longsword and is related to the arts of Kendo and Kenjutsu.

The most popular styles of Iaido today are Muso Jikiden Eishin Ryu and its sister style Muso Shinden Ryu.

Within UKBF we also teach the Suishin Ryu branch, referred to as Batto-Do which is a simplified form of Iai.

Wood Sensei and Mallalieu Sensei have studied Batto under Demura Sensei.

We also have David Keegan Sensei of Muso Jikiden Eishin Ryu in the Iaido division. Keegan Sensei previously trained in Kokusai Budoin under masters such as Keiji Tose and masters Yoshida and Iwasa.

Includes all classical styles of Iai such as Muso Jikiden Eishin Ryu and Muso Shinden Ryu, and also newer schools of Batto such as Suishin Ryu and Toyama Ryu.
