The United Kingdom Budo Federation has attended a meeting with the Japanese Embassy to advise on next year’s Season of Culture.
Announced in August 2017 by Prime Ministers May and Abe during the former’s visit to Tokyo, a major season of culture will take place in Japan between autumn 2019 (Rugby World Cup) and summer 2020 (Olympics and Paralympics). The British Council, working together with the Foreign & Commonwealth Office, Department for International Trade, the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport and other partners, will lead the activities in Japan. At the same time, the Japanese government will lead on Japanese activities in the UK.
The UKBF is now a part of the Japanese Embassy’s Season of culture.
The group was hosted by the honorary consul of Japan and UKBF director Simon Keegan (Renshi) met with Iida Shinichi from the Japanese Embassy. Next year’s UKBF events including Budo Live will be part of the Season of Culture.
This follows a previous meeting with Minister Akamatsu of the Japanese Embassy at the Honorary Consul of Japan’s annual Japanese dinner.
